We live in a satirical age unlike any other. There is an abundance of social absurdities to critique as well as a host of outlets through which to speak out. In the twenty-first century, satire is mainstream and avant-garde. However, using satire in the classroom as a teaching tool can be tricky even though it may resonate with students. In this conversation, Charisse L’Pree (Communications) and Luvell Anderson (Philosophy), co-hosts of SNL101 – a podcast for educators who want to use Saturday Night Live sketches in the classroom – will walk attendees through a how-to guide of using satire for teaching.
This event is supported by the Engaged Humanities Network; College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University.
